Yucky Rental Car
I hate the rental car that my insurance company got for me to use while my car is being fixed. It smells funny, it’s dirty, and it’s too small. My boys are crammed into the back seat, and it’s uncomfortable for their long legs. The front seats are too low and are very uncomfortable. I can’t sit the seat up straight, so I feel like I’m driving while lying in bed. Also, the car has absolutely no get-up-and-go. It does 0 to 60 in maybe 20 minutes. Seriously. I keep getting honked at when stoplights change to green because, even though I’m smashing the accelerator to the floor, the car is barely moving. Sigh. It’s only for a week. I think I can stand a week.
The only thing about this car that I like is the remote keyless entry. Push a button and “chirp!” the car doors are locked. Push another button and “click!” the doors are unlocked. I can even use it to tease my kids. Like this morning, when my oldest son was a bit slow getting out of the car, and he shut his door just as I pressed the lock button. The car, of course, went “Honk!” and clicked the locks shut. My son jumped, stared at the car in amazement for a moment, and then said, “That was weird.”
But I’m just hoping that my car is fixed and ready to pick up by Friday. I miss it. It’s a comfortable, roomy sort of thing. I want it back.
