A Whirlwind Week
It’s been a week since I posted, and it’s been a whirlwind. Really. Work, mostly. Lots of year-end stuff to prepare, and a new year to get things set up for.
And since the entire family was sick on Christmas, we had our family celebration today. Very nice. I got a lovely set of cookbooks like my mom’s … cookbooks I’ve loved (and coveted) for years. They are the Grand Diplome Cooking Course, a twenty-volume set, and they have great step-by-step directions and very clear pictures that show just what the finished dish (and sometimes bits along the way) should look like.
So now the party’s over. My ex will pick up the kids tomorrow evening, which is good, since I realised tonight that they have neither Christmas present nor birthday present for him, so we will be going shopping tomorrow. Fortunately, I know exactly what store to go to — it’s only a few blocks away — and I know exactly what to get. So it’s all taken care of except the actual getting.
There’s a lot yet to be done at home. And with a three-day weekend, I may get a good bit done. I have other obligations, though, this weekend. A friend is coming to stay for three days before she moves 13 hours away. She’s also giving her testimony and a board-breaking karate demonstration, and I will definitely be going to see that. But there’s laundry and ironing to do, and I want to migrate some more posts from my old blog to this one. I hope my readers noticed the really, really old stuff that showed up here and on my Reviews blog. There will be some more to come — the Grammar Guru page needs some posts, and I have lots of stuff to put there. And I’d like to do one more special page, focusing just on my low-carb lifestyle and recipes.
I have some home movies to compile and burn to disk. I have a boatload of papers to file, and I want to add some more books to my LibraryThing catalogue.
So yeah, there is a lot of stuff to do. And the time just seems to go so fast. I would like for 2010 to go a little slower.
