Cutting It Short

I think I’m going to come off of the Lemonade Diet after today. Today is day ten, and that’s the minimum number of days. I had hoped to be able to go to the maximum of forty days. But, while I have had no physical problems at all, I have been fighting a battle with my mind throughout this ten days. And I have just too much stress in my life to keep fighting on another front. So, I think I’m going to break the fast tomorrow, and I’ll aim for forty days next Lent.

For the first two days after the fast, all I’m allowed is grapefruit juice. At suppertime on day two, I’m allowed home-made vegetable broth. Day three allows the grapefruit juice and the broth, and some of the vegetables used to make the soup. On day four, I can return to my regular eating habits. That, however, is exactly what I do not plan to do. For the rest of Lent, I’m going to stick to soup and fresh, raw veggies, with meat only once a day, if I want it. And the only cheese I will allow myself is a bit of chevre on my ratatouille. After Lent, I’m going to start anew on the Atkins Diet that worked so well for me five years ago. I’ll start at the Induction level and gradually work my way up from there.

I’m also trying to work out a way to keep exercising now that basketball season is over for my kids. I won’t be at the gym, so the treadmill and bikes are not so convenient. I’ll think of something.
