6 Down, 69 To Go
Okay, the first’s week’s measurements are in. The six-pound loss is exciting, especially in light of the fact that this is the week when I usually put on 5 to 10 pounds. I’ve also lost an inch or two in some places.
I did great with my eating yesterday, but not so good for lunch today. I knew I shouldn’t even nibble at the sesame flatbread at The Grove Grill, where I took myself for lunch. Once I did, though, it was “eat the whole basket full.” I did not, however, get dessert — so that makes up for it somewhat.
And I won’t be eating there again. $30 for an uninspired, relatively bland meal is ludicrous. The food had potential, but it never achieved it. The creamed oyster and artichoke soup was lukewarm and had a really revolting-looking whole oyster slopping about in it. The tomato-and-chevre quesadillas, likewise, were not hot, and the filling was unevenly distributed, so that one often got a bite of just tortilla or just cheese. The guacamole was old and tasted soapy, the salsa was slimy/grainy like old tomatoes, and the lettuce-bed on which the condiments were served was wilted and browning. Very poor presentation, but it accurately presaged the disappointing food. The flatbread was the best thing brought to the table. (Editormum the food critic speaks.)
In any case, the first week was worth the difficulties, and I am looking forward to this second week.
