It’s the Most Busiest Time of the Year

Yeah, so, I used an improperly constructed superlative. The Grammar Guru is on vacation.

It’s hopping around here. We spent last weekend in various pursuits.

I helped teach a CPR class on Saturday — my first in nearly two years. If I didn’t teach one before the end of this year, I’d have lost my teaching certification. Can’t let that happen … it was too hard and too expensive to get the first time round! The lead instructor was a wonderful old pro, and she’s given me confidence that I can get back to teaching as I used to. I was unlucky in that the car accident and resulting issues with speech and memory came just at the time that the Red Cross updated all of its materials radically. So I was trying to learn something new while dealing with a brain that was seriously injured. That’s why my first class after the wreck went all to hell. So anyway, there were a few sticky moments on Saturday, but my lead was very helpful and encouraging, and my class was very understanding of the issues I was dealing with.

Sunday, Mom and I cooked and cleaned house and got ready for the afternoon’s Christmas tree decorating party. That was lots of fun!

This week, I’m just trying to keep it together. I am so tired. I’m at work all day, and when I get home I really just want to go straight to bed. Can’t. Too much to do to get ready for Christmas. So I’m hitting the sack around 11 and getting up at 6. Only a few more days, though. Once we are through the holidays, we can all settle down.

The new (replacement) doors and windows should be installed in the house, so the kids and I can move home. The last ten months has been the longest “six to eight weeks” of my life! But it has been so worth it! And then I can complete the insurance claim, put that behind me, and focus on the two outstanding issues: child support and the accident. Once those are resolved, life will be simple again! Won’t that be lovely!
