What does a Notary Public actually do? (yes, we all know that they notarize … what does that mean, and why is it important?)

    They confirm (legally) that it was, in fact, you and not some sort of imposter who signed whatever it was you brought in to be notarized. However, no notary public can 100% guarantee that it wasn’t your evil twin (a la “Star Trek”).
