Flying Every Whichaway

I’ve neglected my blogging these last few days (a week?) because it’s been so terribly busy, and something just had to go. Blogging, since it doesn’t pay the bills, kind of falls by the wayside when life gets crazy.
I’m almost done with the paperwork for the police. And then I’ll need another week or so to finish up the paperwork for the insurance company. I’ve unpacked, repacked, and rearranged about a million boxes in the house and the storage buildings, checking what’s missing and what’s still packed. I’ve been through eleven years’ worth of receipts, checking original prices and looking for anything that will help me establish what was in the jewelry trays that were taken.

I’ve installed a new security system in the house.

I’ve been working on the “discovery” materials for the lawsuit over the wreck I was in in July 2005. The other driver fell asleep at the wheel on the freeway and plowed into the back of my car at about 100 mph. Now no one can find him. His insurance company has asked for all kinds of “discovery” materials, including ten years’ worth of medical records and a list of all hospitals I’ve been treated at in my lifetime. My lawyer’s going to object to the outrageous scope of their demands, but he wants me to go on and have the info for him so that we don’t get stalled if the judge requires us to provide it.

And percolating quietly in the background is my annoying idiot ex, who is still making trouble over the child support. He pays, or I’d have him put in jail. But he got a new job with double the salary back in July, and we still haven’t sorted out the new support. Thankfully, I can let the lawyers battle it out, mostly. But it’s there. Nagging at me in the background of my life.

And also nagging in the back of the mind are the health issues. I’ve made it to a few doctors and I do not have inflammatory breast cancer, and the mass in my ear is also benign. Now I just need to clear up the issue of my throat — best case is it’s allergies, worst case is it’s nodes on my vocal cords — and then I can be at peace about my health.

If I can just make it through the next six weeks with work and home holiday insanity, a boss with a broken elbow (God love him), and two more doctor’s appointments, I should be good. I sure do hope that 2008 goes better than 2007 did.
