Take 2…

Posted by Editormum on 21 January 2004 in Uncategorized |

I tried to post this last night, but my computer crashed.

It was a long day. Don’t know why. Maybe because I didn’t sleep well last night, so I’m a bit tired today.

I did get up for my exercise at 5:30 (Huzzah! two in a row!) and had a good workout. I enjoy doing Callanetics because it’s so easy and non-threatening. I mean, how many routines can you do in your pajamas? If I keep finishing before the people on the tape though, I’m going to step up to the 1-hour video from the 30-minute Beginner program I am doing now. I may have to work harder to keep up with that one, but I will see results faster and I won’t have to keep stopping to fast-forward the tape.

The kids did better getting ready to leave the house today. My youngest was up while I was still exercising, and he wanted to snuggle. It’s hard to do hamstring stretches when a halfling keeps attacking you with hugs. Not that I mind too much. The oldest is not waking up easily in the mornings. I may have to send him to bed earlier.

Work was one of those long slog days — when you feel like everything you do requires dragging yourself through ten feet of viscous mud. And my hair was bugging me. Since I had to give up going to the hairstylist every six weeks, I am letting my hair grow out. Then I can plait it up out of the way. But right now it’s at this annoying in-between stage where it falls just below my collar and tickles my neck and face. And it’s very staticky around here, so it’s always acting weird. Floating about — tickling. Ugh. I will be glad when it gets another three to four inches on, so I can do more than clip it at the nape of my neck. It looks goofy that way, and accentuates my fat cheeks.

Got home and watched some of the Lord of the Rings: Fellowship DVD while making supper and folding laundry. I’m watching the “how we did it” bits. I love it when they talk to Billy Boyd, Viggo Mortensen, or Orlando Bloom. Mr. Boyd has this face that just lights up when he talks, this really heartfelt musical laugh and a gorgeous accent, and this incredible smile that just makes you want to grab him and hug him. Mr. Mortensen is interesting to watch because he barely moves his mouth when he talks … it’s like his jaw is wired together … but he’s very interesting and seems to be a real gentleman. And Mr. Bloom is easy on the eyes, he talks intelligently, and he has a nice accent. Come to think of it, Sean Astin is a bit of a good watch too. Another one who’s easy on the eyes and quite the gentleman.

Peter Jackson is nice to watch and listen to, as well. He’s very intelligent and very laid-back and comfortable. And he doesn’t mind telling stories on himself or joking about how it all worked.

I do not, however, like to watch Elijah Woods in the inteviews. Nice voice and all, but his eyes are painful. I swear that boy has a thyroid condition. There’s this one interview where his eyes look like they’re the size of baseballs, and they are just bulging out of his head. Ew. He also has a filthy mouth. I can’t stand men who swear indiscriminately. The occasional swear word is one thing, but this boy just swears up a storm. I’ll give him a bit of slack, as he’s still a kid … he was something like 18 when they started filming the saga.

Anyway. Gotta try to get some sleep tonight–Wednesday is church day and always a bit of a mess. I need my rest.
