Some Good News
Actually, quite a bit of good news.
We cleaned out my storage building today, and got a lot of stuff over to the house. We’re still not in, but it won’t be long. And I could sleep over there if I wanted to — the beds are made and the kitchen and bathroom are functional, if not tidy. Probably will after next weekend. There’s still a lot of stuff, including most of my books, in my brother’s building, but he doesn’t seem to mind my using it so long as I help pay for it.
So we’re moving boxes of things from my building to brother’s and we keep coming across things that I was afraid the thieves had gotten. A couple of boxes of DVDs — including all of our Veggie Tales. My Henckels knives. (A chef and her knives have a special bond.) A few small kitchen appliances.
So it’s not a total tragedy. Yeah, we lost a lot of stuff. Some of it irreplaceable. But, hey, I’ve been needing to go through stuff and sort and inventory for a long time. And get rid of clutter. Criminy, but we have a lot of clutter. I started sorting papers the other day when I couldn’t find my copy of my homeowner’s insurance policy — which was supposed to be in the safe but wasn’t — and I’ve thrown away or shredded three paper boxes full of stuff! Now that’s just stupid! Why do I have all this junk, anyway?
I have, however, also proven all of my friends and family wrong. They told me that once I’d filled out my taxes and gotten my refund check, I could get rid of all my receipts and things. Well, guess what has been the biggest help in completing this insurance paperwork? My eleven years’ worth of receipts. LOL!

Moving down here to a much smaller house has force me to get rid of the clutter and it IS a freeing thing. Of course, the fire a few years back started the ball rolling. It’s hard for me to part with something, It’s either sentimental, or I can see a use for it. Good luck to you.
