.Dave. and the Blogit Community

Posted by Editormum on 2 November 2007 in Blogging Life |

Blogit has made the decision to permanently ban .Dave. I think it’s a bad decision, but I don’t guess they will change their minds just because I don’t agree. You can read my tribute to .Dave. in my Oddments blog, and my appeal to the Blogit Powers That Be in the Blogit Town Square.

But I do want to talk for a moment about .Dave.’s commitment to this community. He’s responsible for a lot of the traffic that a lot of us have seen on our blogs over the past four years, and that deserves mention. Many writers here were “discovered” by other bloggers because they were included in the list at the Potting Shed, or in Blogit Gold Dust, or the “A to Z of Bloggers.” And boy, oh boy, could .Dave. comment. That boy could comment up a storm!

In short, .Dave. came here and set out to contribute to the Community. Not just to earn money for himself and to have a forum for his own ideas, but to promote those whose work he valued. His blogs — even the really strange ones — flourished because he struck a chord. You clicked on his blogs to “repay” a click or two found yourself hooked.

And he didn’t care if you clicked on him or not. He clicked my Blog Seeds blog every day for four years, and I don’t think I’ve visited his blogs more than a handful of times. He knew my limitations, and supported me anyway.

Thanks, .Dave., for caring about our community. Thanks for your contributions. You will be missed here. (Although I’ve got your e-mail address and your other blog address, so I will be “seeing” you!)
