Thank Goodness!
I ran out of checks today when I was paying the bills. Normally, this is not a problem. I go to the safe and pull out a new book of checks and I’m back in business.
Only there were no new checks in the safe!
After a moment of sheer panic, I thought, If ever there were a time to use a bank transfer, this is it.
Called the bank, had them transfer the money from my account there to my “child support” account, and paid the bills from that account’s checkbook.
Cost me $15, but that’s a lot less than the late fees would have been if I’d not thought of this solution!

Another Idea: I don’t know if it’s available to you, but Money Orders are Free at Amscott and Walmart where I live, they even let you use a debit card to pay for it instead of cash. You probably know this already, but most of my utilities now have an Easy pay Online through there site, so I don’t use the bank’s pay thru checking. Hope this can help in some way.
