If I Haven’t Lost Ten Pounds This Week….

… then life is profoundly and royally unfair. I left work at 3, went and made a bank deposit for work, then went to my bank and deposited paycheck plus child support, dropped a bunch of checks into the post box, and went and picked up the kids. We went back to my grandpa’s to dig some more iris and some shrubs.

The kids weren’t much help at all today, so I ended up doing most of the work while making them sit in the car out of the way. I did get to show them a lovely huge leopard frog, which was fun.

Anyway, I dug up three largish shrubs and two fifty-foot rows of iris and packed the car again. Had to leave the shrubs to pick up tomorrow. I can’t lift them by myself, so I will have to ask my folks for help while I help them empty things out of grandpa’s garage tomorrow. And maybe I can get the last two beds of daffodils and iris tomorrow afternoon or Sunday. I will be planting for weeks, but I am so glad to have been able to save all of grandpa’s wonderful flowers. Not to mention, I get free flowers and shrubs that would cost me a fortune that I don’t have, and I will have a gorgeous yard next spring. All it costs me is labour and sore muscles.

In any case, thus far I have spent five hours digging — heavy digging — and carrying heavy bags to and from the car. And tomorrow, I will be doing some more serious lifting and carrying as I help transport boxes from grandpa’s garage to my utility shed and mom and dad’s garage. That will likely take at least six or seven hours.

If I haven’t burned a good million calories this week, I’ll be surprised. And I haven’t really changed my eating habits — I’m still following the diet. So I am guessing that I must have lost something this week, and by the end of the month, I should have lost another ten pounds and a couple of sizes. And maybe even more, since I plan to start exercising again next week (took this week and last week off for illness and PMS reasons). So here’s hoping that I see a significant drop in size and maybe even the scale when I climb on at the end of the month.
