I’m on Vacation!
Yippeee!! For the first time since I re-entered the workforce in 2001, I am taking a real, honest-to-goodness vacation! The kids and I are going to have a blast.
On Friday, we planned our week and then played video games.
On Saturday, son 1 had a baseball game. Afterward, we went to the Planetarium and saw two different shows, then we went to Sam’s, Wal-Mart, and Target to get errands out of the way. Then we came home, had supper, and played video games.
On Sunday, we went to church, then had lunch with some friends. Then we went to the I-Max theatre and saw two movies (Hurricane on the Bayou and Greece: Secrets of the Past). Then we went to the movie theatre and saw Meet the Robinsons in 3-D. Then we came home and played video games.
Today, we have school-work in the morning, and then son 1 has a doctor’s appointment this afternoon. We also need to weed a flowerbed and bury a dead possum. And tidy the house a bit. We’ll probably play some more of our video game. It’s a Playstation 2 game that we are trying to beat … it’s called River King and it’s pretty interesting. Lots of fishing and a neat story line. Sometimes it gets rather boring, but the kids seem to enjoy it a lot. And there’s no violence and nasty language, so it’s a comfortable indulgence.
Plans for the rest of the week include a visit to Chuck E. Cheese, a trip to the zoo, a trip to the Pink Palace to see the dinosaurs, a trip to the children’s museum, a couple of special lunches with my co-workers (planned way before I decided to take a vacation), and trips to other local museums and things. We were given free passes to a special I-Max screening on Tuesday evening, so we plan to go to that. And there will be more video games, and walks and bike rides, and that kind of thing.
It’s going to be lovely. It’s also going to be WAY hard to go back to the office next Monday. I’ll think about that another day.
