Tomorrow’s a Teaching Day

Posted by Editormum on 11 February 2003 in Uncategorized |

I’m off to bed (late) in a minute after spending the last hour getting ready to teach a CPR class tomorrow. I really do love these classes; you meet so many interesting people, and I always feel like I have helped people do something very important at the end of the day. I’m not sure whether tomorrow’s class includes AED skills or not; seeing that it’s a 5-hour class, I’m betting that it does. I’m glad to see AEDs in public areas. Such a little thing, such a simple skill to learn….it’s almost idiot-proof….and you can save a person’s life.

I’d like to see the day when CPR is offered as an elective in high schools. You could really get into the nitty gritty of it with a whole six weeks. If it were part of health class, think of all the adjunct information you could get out there. Heart disease, health and lifestyle information, and disease prevention, all laid out in detail, rather than quickly touched on as we have to in the 5-hour classes. It would be wonderful.

Anyway, I can’t wait to see how tomorrow’s class goes. It will be fun to meet the new students and guide everyone through learning this valuable skill
