Why I Homeschool

Posted by Editormum on 11 August 2009 in Uncategorized |
  • I believe that God has entrusted me with my children and that He expects me to ensure that they are reared in the fear and admonition of the Lord as well as in those academic areas necessary to their success in their adult lives.
  • I believe that God holds me responsible for every aspect of my children’s education, both spiritual and secular, and that He expects me protect them from unrighteous influences or subject matter.
  • I believe that a God-centered education is crucial to the spiritual, psychological, and social well-being of my children.
  • I believe that home-education is the best means of imparting moral values and strong character to my children.
  • I believe that home-education is the most efficient and effective means of achieving the educational goals that I have for my children.
  • I believe that the home is the best place for a child to be socialized.
  • I believe that young children need time to mature and grow before they are subjected to heavy academic requirements and formal instructional settings.
  • I believe that education is an ongoing, lifelong process that should not be constrained by artificial schedules. I further believe that a young child learns best in an informal setting that takes advantage of everyday activities and teachable moments that occur in the course of daily life.
  • I believe that a child learns best in a tutorial, one-on-one setting, in which the instructional methods and subject matter are adapted to the individual child’s abilities and interests. I further believe that I know my own children best, and can adapt their learning to their needs, interests, learning styles, and personalities better than anyone else could.
