LAID OFF!

Posted by Editormum on 4 June 2004 in Just Another Single Mother |

Well, today just plain royally stank. Work was rotten, and to cap it all off, at the end of the day they called me into the office and told me they were doing away with my position. Two weeks of severance. Clean out your desk and don’t come back Monday.

And on the way home, I ran over a squirrel.

So I had to go sell curriculum when what I wanted to do was curl up and cry. It doesn’t help that I am something like $18K in debt right now. I’m afraid that we are going to be cutting back big time. No more guitar lessons for the kids, no swimming lessons. This is not going to be an easy time. And I have to find a job, because we now have only $2000 to live on until I get a new job. Maybe two.

This is such sad news! Did you have any inkling they might do this? How shocking! You’re great though. You’ll find something better.

BIG HUGS. Hang in there. Just keep moving forward and you’ll reach the good stuff again. We went through the same thing back in September. My Spouse’s position was eliminated. After 17 years he had to find new work and we had to find a new place to live since we lived on the site of his work. We plugged away and we’re still plugging. Email me anytime, even if you just want a to vent. Just be sure to add in there, “I’m just venting, Kay, none of your stupid advice. Okay?” And I’ll keep my words about keep trudging along to myself.

    THAT JUST ROYALLY SUCKS!!!
Perhaps you should consider selling curriculum full time??? What do you sell anyway? Unemployment and child support will help as well.

    Be creative and keep writing!

I know what its like. Its not an easy road, but above all you have to keep your thoughts positive and KNOW you are strong enough to pull through. Everywhere you turn nowadays, people are talking about positive thinking and the power of the mind and I believe its true. There’s a rather old book out there called “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Its an interesting read and not just if you want to be rich. Hope all works out for you.
