The Irony of Life’s Juxtapositions

Posted by Editormum on 28 April 2006 in Just Another Single Mother |

Tonight started visitation for the kids, so I was on my own for supper and after. I have many, many things to do this weekend; foremost among the items on the list is writing the articles to complete my April quota.

Anyway, so I decided to go out for supper, so I wouldn’t have to cook tonight. I went to a lovely little restaurant and had a marvellous four-course meal: fried artichokes with light horseradish cream, a mixed green salad topped with chevre and warm bacon dressing, filet mignon in red wine reduction with caramelised onions, grilled asparagus, and a chocolate pate. Yes, it was marvelous.

So I finished and came home, and my first job was to fix the toilet. What a contrast! It was a simple job: the plastic flush lever broke the other day, and I had to replace it. I also have to change the sheets before I go to bed. And tomorrow I have to install my new solar path lighting, fold laundry, and write more articles.

I also want to roller skate for about thirty minutes; I want to start exercising again, and roller-skating is as close to running as I can probably get. Walking is too slow and boring to me, and I’m not able to run yet because of my back and neck problems. The eventual goal is to start jogging again, though. I was at my best when I was running 10 miles three times a week. At this point, I’d settle for being able to run a mile again.
