I Caved.

I couldn’t take it anymore … the sleepless nights, the restless sleep when I did get to sleep, the uncomfortable clothes, the sweating ….

I turned on the air conditioner at 1:30 this morning. A week earlier than I like to turn it on, but it was 86 in the house at 1:00, and it didn’t seem to be getting any better.

I’m kind of bummed, since my last utility bill was half of what it has been — only $165 for light, gas, water, sewer, and trash collection. In the months before, the utility bill was between $190 and $250. Way too much for my little 1000 sq. ft. house.

Yeah, there are some things I could do here to improve the house’s energy efficiency, but a couple of years ago, it was unusual for my bill to be more than $150; it was usually $90 or $100. What a change in just a few years!
