Back From Break

Posted by Editormum on 21 October 2009 in Uncategorized |

I haven’t posted in a long time. I didn’t realise just how long, though, until I decided, on a whim, to check the site this morning. Wow! Nearly a month has gone by. And while the blog has stagnated, I certainly haven’t.

(We will take a short pause so that those who know me in real life can stop snorting their morning coffee out their noses and get their laughter under control.  … Y’all okay? Good.)

The week after my last post was spent getting ready for a ten-day Florida vacation that I probably should not have taken, financially speaking, but that pretty much saved my life emotionally and physically.

Most of my extended family went down to Mexico Beach, FL, for a week of rest and relaxation. On our way back to Memphis, we stopped in Pensacola, FL, so that my kids could tour the National Naval Air Museum, and then in Mobile, AL, so that we could tour the battleship USS Alabama and the submarine USS Drum. We met an amazing man there, Col. Glenn D. Frazier, who was a POW in WWII, and is a survivour of the Bataan Death March.

The week after we returned from the vacation was a whirlwind of catching up at work, online, at home, and in karate class and Boy Scouts. It culminated in a Scout trip to Blanchard Springs Caverns for my older son, and in the SMAC Martial Arts tournament in Greenwood, MS, for my younger son and me.

So things are beginning to calm down, and I am really looking forward to this coming weekend, when I can relax by putting my home in order. And by writing out the things that I learned about myself, my life, my kids, and my work in the month that I’ve been away from blogging.  My readers can expect to read more in the coming days, as I fully intend to get back to near-daily posting.
