Trying Something New

Posted by Editormum on 26 January 2005 in Uncategorized |

I ordered a special kit last week in preparation for a kick-start to my diet. It’s one of two kits that I am going to try as an adjunct to my low-carb diet. Both kits are designed to cleanse the body of waste. The first is called Colon Blow, and it is designed to thoroughly clean out the colon. The website is really quite amusing, and the kit is not too terribly expensive. One cleanse kit costs about $14, but you can get three cleanse kits for $35, which is a pretty good deal. I’m going to wait and do the colon blow on a “daddy weekend,” so that the kids aren’t around while I’m going without food for 24 hours and, hopefully, spending a lot of time in the bathroom.

After the colon blow, I’m going to go straight low-carb, no-sugarĀ for one or two weeks, with a 50 carb per day limit. Then I’m going to do the Lemonade Diet for 10 to 14 days. I was very skeptical when I heard about this programme, but the name is deceiving. It’s really more of a whole-body cleanse designed to make your cells rid themselves of toxins and built-up waste. There’s a website that has a good run-down of the programme, along with kits that have all you need except the lemons and water. It’s really very interesting. I’ll also start this on a “daddy weekend” so that the kids aren’t around for the first few days, which are the hardest, or so I am told.

As I said, when I first read about it, I was very skeptical, but four of my friends have just done it for varying lengths of time, from 10 days to 20, and all of them report feeling great, losing weight, and gaining energy. One friend reports that she no longer has the intense, uncontrollable cravings that were hindering her weight loss and other fitness goals. I figure it can’t hurt, and it might help.

I will, of course, write about the experience I have with both kits, as well as how I approach the two weeks of low-carb/no-sugar. (Note: when I say no sugar, I am not excluding naturally occurring sugars. I’ll probably have tomatoes, strawberries, and blueberries, and maybe some pomegranate. But no processed sugar. So, no chocolate.)

Once I finish the Lemonade Diet and the transition that you have to follow to get back into eating food again, I’m going to go back to strict low-carb/no-sugar until I have lost 75 pounds. At 5’1″, I think 125 – 130 is a very reasonable weight for me. And it’s time I got back there, instead of sticking around at the 190 – 200 mark.
