How Goes the Low-Carb Diet
Well, as long as I stay low-carb, I do great. Staying low-carb, however, is a real challenge for me.
When I avoid potatoes, white bread and pastry products, and sugary products, I have lots of energy, I lose weight, and I’m optimistic about life, even when the inevitable bad times roll.
When I indulge in sugar, potatoes, and white bread and pastry, I’m lethargic, grumpy, and tired all the time, even when life is relatively good. And eating potatoes of any kind, in even the smallest amount, means an immediate weight gain. That’s a food sensitivity that I’m fighting. I’m part-Irish, and I do love my praties. [Sigh]
My problem is willpower. When someone offers me cake, pie, a pain au chocolat, a croissant, or a piece of candy, I cannot say “no.” If we have “Cake Day” at the office, I have to have a piece. And once I’ve succumbed today, I can’t be happy without some little treat tomorrow, and the next day, and the next….
So the bad habits start, and then I’m back into eating junky food and not controlling what I eat. Like now. With all that’s happened in the last few months, I got really bad about eating out and eating junk. And I was not able to exercise due to the injuries from the wreck. Now I’m reining back in on the food indulgences, and I am trying to start exercising again.
If my past experience is any guide, I have no doubt that within a few weeks of getting back on the exercsie regimen and the low-carb way of eating, I’ll be seeing some spectacular results. I’ll let y’all know, as time permits.
