Another Manic Monday

Posted by Editormum on 2 February 2004 in Uncategorized |

Well, nothing like making a complete idiot of yourself, I always say. I just came home from church, where I tried to go to next Monday’s special ministry meeting tonight. You’d think a professional editor could read, wouldn’t you?!

It was a pretty good day, otherwise. I’m working on our bi-monthly magazine at work right now, so all editing and layout and typing and stuff like that today. Fun!

I also upped my workout — yay me! — from the half-hour Beginner’s tape to the full one-hour program. And I did most all the reps, too! Another hearty huzzah for the editormum! Some of the exercises I did more reps than the program requires. I don’t think that is a bad thing … maybe I will see results faster in those areas. I didn’t quite make the 400 stomach curls (100 each in four different positions) … I think I only did about 200 of them. But, well, tomorrow is another day. Maybe I’ll get in 300 tomorrow.

I’m not seeing a lot of progress, but maybe I’m being hypercritical. Six different people stopped me at church yesterday and asked me if I had lost weight. My mother says I don’t look puffy anymore. And I do notice that my clothes are fitting better — and my sleeves aren’t quite so snug. That’s nice. Especially considering that I did the half-hour workout for a week and then took last week off because I was sick.

I’m struggling with the diet. I want my sweets, darnit. I don’t want to give up pastry. So I’m trying to stick to the diet all day, but giving myself a small, special dessert at lunch, when there’s time to burn it off before bedtime. This is not, of course, the ideal approach, especially to low-carbing, but I need to work myself into the complete program. I am just not ready to cope with 5:30 wake-up calls and no pastry. Call me weak-willed. I’ll get it together soon.

And when I get back to a sensible size, I will reward myself handsomely with a real-live, honest-to-goodness kilted skirt (as opposed to a man’s kilt, which isn’t tapered at the waist to properly fit the curvy female figure). Made by a reputable Scottish tailor and shipped in from Bonnie Scotland. A full eight yards of wool, pleated to sett — with a matching sash — in my favorite tartan. If I can decide which one that is. It will set me back about $500, but if I can meet my goal of losing 75 pounds by Thanksgiving, I will deserve it.
