I Won an “Oscar”!
I spent the weekend at a conference held by the Tennessee Division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. I had a lot of fun, and I won an “Oscar” while there.
While the conference is primarily a time for attending educational seminars and conducting IAAP business, there are some fun times included in the weekend’s activities. One of those fun times this weekend was a karaoke contest in which representatives of the various chapters in attendance performed a song that they had chosen and worked up.
Our chapter’s four volunteers chose to do original lyrics written to go with The Village People’s “YMCA” music. We prepared signs with the letters I, A, A, and P on them, and sang about what IAAP can do for aspiring, career-minded admins. The chorus featured I-A-A-P, and each singer held up her sign while members of the audience with that sign held up theirs at the appropriate time. It was a BLAST. It was really fun and funny, and we got a lot of compliments. And when the time for awards came, ours was the only group awarded a statuette for each member of the group. I’m now, officially, a karaoke queen. And this was my first time EVER singing karaoke.

That’s sounds so fun.
Shouldn’t it be a Grammy, though?
Probably so, Bandanafish … but the statuette I received looks more like Hollywood’s Oscar than it does a Grammy. Go figure.
