A Long Night…But Worth It
I stayed up really late last night…didn’t go to bed until half past midnight, and didn’t get to sleep until around 1 because I kept thinking of things I needed to have ready this morning and having to get up to go get them.
I did a lot in just a few short hours. When I left work at 6:30, I stopped by the discount store for contact cleaner and toilet paper. Then I went to mom’s and watched Survivor while cataloguing all of my materials for the expo. I triple-checked my packing slips, inventory list, and actual inventory to make sure I had received what I was supposed to get for the show. We left mom’s at 9 and ran by Wendy’s for supper. Got home at 9:20. The kids took out all the garbage and pulled the cans to the kerb. Then we ate (after we washed our hands). Then I sent them to dress for bed while I checked my e-mail, wrote a couple of short blogs, and went through the mail.
After tucking the kids in at 10, I went through my purse and cleaned it out and organised it. Then I went through my briefcase and did the same. Then I emptied the spare briefcase that I use for church choir, and put in it the reading materials and other things I would need to take to the show. When I finished, I got my extra supplies list and filled a small file box with the things I needed for the show. I filled another box with bottled water so Mom and I won’t dehydrate. Next, I rebooted the laundry and sorted all the clothes that are (still) on the couch waiting to be folded. As I sorted, I packed the kids’ overnight bags with changes of clothes and all the things they would need. Then I scanned the groceries I had bought and put them away. Then I checked my clothes for the next two days and laid them out. One of my shirts still needed to be washed, so I rebooted the laundry and sorted the things that came out of the dryer.
Today is payday, so my next task was to sort through all the bills and make sure I had everything in order to pay them. I also needed to balance my checkbook. Surprise! I had forgotten to register a $150 deposit! I love when that happens. It’s much better to forget to write in a deposit than to forget to write down a check. So I went through all the paperwork on my desk and sorted it out. I thought about staying up to clean the kitchen and get the sand off of the floors, but I remembered how long today was going to be anyway, and decided I needed to go on to bed. I got up yesterday at 6:30, and I won’t be getting to bed until midnight (at least) tonight, and since I have to drive us home (an hour) after tonight’s part of the show, it simply wouldn’t have been safe to go with no sleep at all. As it is, I went to sleep around 1 and got up at 6:30. But it will have to do.
Now, today’s schedule is to get all my work finished at the office no later than 1. From here I have to go to the bank to deposit my paycheck and get seed money for the show. After leaving the bank, I need to stop by AutoZone for oil and windscreen cleaning fluid, and then by the gas station for petrol. Then I go to mom’s and load the car and check all the fluids. We need to leave Memphis by 3:30 in order to get to Jackson in time to unload and set up our booth before the expo starts. The earlier we can get out, the better. So my goal is to leave the office by noon, if at all possible. That being the case, I need to stop blogging and get to work, don’t you think?
