FIVE HOURS!
It took FIVE HOURS to clean the kids’ playroom! I can’t believe it! I’ve threatened them with a slow, painful, tortured death if they ever let it get in that state again. LOL!
Once we got the big stuff put away, it was a matter of a long, tedious slog through several boxes into which we had scooped all of the papers, small toys, bits of toys, and other detritus that they had collected over the past several months. We filled two small and one large garbage bag with broken things, useless and uninteresting papers, and other stuff. We filled two boxes of things to sell. And while we didn’t get everything as organized as I might like, it’s at least out of the floor and on the shelves in logical places. And the boys are in there playing with the new Safari action figure set that I bought off of the dollar shelves at Target the other day. With strict instructions to PUT IT AWAY when I call.
That’s the new and unbreakable rule. One toy at a time, and it must be put away before anything else is gotten out. Break the rule, and it’s a dollar fine AND banishment from the toy room for the rest of the day. (Which means doing chores with me. LOL!)
I hope it works. We’re about to take a load of stuff to the storage building, and then we will pick up supper (so I don’t have to cook and clean the kitchen). Then the boys will get ready for bed while I tidy up my room and fold laundry. This just might be possible, after all.
