Bunk Beds….
The kids like their new bunks, except for a couple of minor things.
The older one has to dodge the ceiling fan to get into his bed on the top bunk. When the fans were installed in this house (way before we moved in), they were installed smack-dab in the middle of the ceiling. The bedrooms are 10×10, so there’s not much chance of missing it. No matter where we moved the bunks, that child would be dodging the ceiling fan/light fixture.
The younger one, in the bottom bunk, finds it too dark, and cannot see the night-light. Since all of the electrical plugs in the room are on the walls that do not have windows or closets (i.e., the walls that the bunks have to be next to), the plugging in of night-lights, lamps, and tape players is a bit of a challenge. I’m working on that one. Right now, it’s extension cord city in there.Thank goodness for flat plugs! I can still push the bed against the wall with the flat-head extension cord plugged in.
The only other problem we’ve encountered is a lack of shelf space for toys, books, etc. That’s one that we’ll rectify mostly this weekend, as I have some coupons and gift certificates for Office Depot that we can use to buy some inexpensive shelving. Once we have the shelves in place, the kids will have places for all of their toys.
