Productive Weekend
I got a lot done this weekend. The kids were with their dad, so I ran errands and cleaned house.
Friday night, I cleaned and mopped the kitchen. Then I watched Funny Girl. I was up until 3 a.m.!
Saturday, I got up late (at 8) and ran a bunch of errands before meeting a friend at the fitness center for a workout . We went to Perkins for lunch afterward — a late lunch, it was about 3 p.m.!
My morning errands included:
- went to the UPS store to pick up a refund
- went by Mantia’s to pick up some cold sparkling water
- stopped by the consignment store for clothes — didn’t find anything
- went to the supermarket for laundry detergent
- went by Outdoors, Inc. , to buy a pair of Maui Jim sungleasses (yeah, I splurged big time, but these are fabulous sunglasses and they don’t give me a headache)
- stopped in the office to pick up some information that I’d left there on Friday
- went to A Fitting Place for a new workout bra — found a great one that I like and that is comfortable
- went to Sports Authority for new walking shoes
- went to Fred’s for citrus-scented Clorox 2 — it’s the only store in town that has it
I started at 11 a.m. and finished by picking up my workout buddy at her place at 1:30. We worked out for about an hour — I work for a property management company, and one of the benefits is that we can use the fitness facilities at any of our properties for free — and then we went to eat. After I dropped her off at her apartment, I went home and unloaded the car.
I did a little more housework, but not too much. I was tired. I think I may have done a bit of laundry, scrubbed the tub, and vacuumed the accessible bits of carpet.
On Sunday, I went to church and then took myself to Houston’s for lunch, where I had peel-and-eat shrimp, filet mignon, and steamed green beans. Then I went home and finished reading Piers Anthony’s Night Mare before getting on with the housework.
- Took the last newly-hatched butterfly outside and set it free
- Unloaded the dishwasher and loaded it
- Made a coeur a creme (a low-carb dessert that is to die for)
- Packed up a lot of yard-sale fodder and put it in the spare room
- Dusted and vacuumed half of the living room (the half that isn’t covered in clutter and boxes for containing it)
- Wrote an article for the sunglasses site
- Wrote an article for another site that isn’t online yet
- Folded the bed linens and packed the flannel ones away for the summer (It’s almost time to get them out again; they’ve been on the couch since March!)
- Made supper for self and the kids and re-cleaned the kitchen.
While doing all of that, I watched Spellbound, Good Morning Vietnam, Penn and Teller’s B.S. (a television series that they did exposing charlatans and scams — only the title is actually the whole word), and some other movie that I can’t remember. I kind of listen to them and then watch what bits I can catch while passing through the room or folding clothes or packing a box. It’s odd, but it keeps me company.
Anyway, so I got a boatload of stuff done this weekend, and I’m quite proud of myself. I just need to keep it up and it won’t be long before the clutter is gone and we have a home again!
