Almost There
The kids leave tonight to spend the night with their dad before heading off tomorrow afternoon for their ten-day Washington visit. You would have thought that he could have let them spend this last night with me (especially since I am taking time out of my Memorial Day weekend to take them to the airport), but NO, he has something planned. Criminy. He’s going to have them for ten flippin’ days, and he can’t let me enjoy their last night with them. Sigh. Oh well.
Yay for the Amazon used book seller who came through and got one of the Redwall books on tape to me before the trip. I was really hoping that the other ones would make it, too, and I suppose they might. (different sellers) There is still today’s mail, and possibly tomorrow’s — if the mailman comes before noon. The kids are thrilled and chomping at the bit to get at those tapes. I also found some of our Adventures in Odyssey and Adventures in the Book of Virtues tapes that they will enjoy.
I was going to send them with carry-on bags, but homegirl suggested backpacks — which makes a LOT more sense — so I’m going to make a mad dash to Office Deopt or Target this afternoon and get them backpacks, which will make transporting their airplane (and airport) activities a lot easier. They’ve got something like a four-hour layover on the way out there (plus seven hours of flight time). So they have activity books, drawing pads, and books on tape to keep them occupied.

GLAD I could help! Try to have fun while they are away… It can be hard when you miss them, but alone time is soooo valuable
