The Best-Laid Plans…Gang Aft Agley
Well, I got a lot done last night, but not all I had hoped. We got to basketball practise exactly on time, and the younger son and I went to the library. He’s loving this, and my older son is jealous. I did explain to son #1 that when son #2 starts his basketball practise, it will be son #1’s turn to go to the library with Mom.
After practise, we stopped at Chick-Fil-A for supper. That’s when #1 Son realised he’d left his jacket at the church gym. Grrrr. So we had to go back for it after we ate — a 15-minute drive each way. Meaning that we didn’t get home at 7:30, but at 8:15.
Still, I folded most of the clothes and finished all the washing, so tonight after church I can finish up the folding and get all the clothes put away. I also did a little filing and cleaning last night, so things are looking better. I’d still be embarrassed if anyone dropped in to visit, but by this evening I will be able to at least offer them a seat on the couch.
I also managed to get a pomegranate-juice stain out of my favourite white sweater — straight bleach did the trick. RAH! That sweater is a staple of my fall wardrobe. It has 3/4 sleeves and a nice scallop pattern around the neckline. It looks great with office clothes or with casual stuff, and it’s the only sweater I have that looks right with my Argyle vest (an argyle variant of a Campbell tartan). When that drop of juice fell on my sweater, I was furious. And it couldn’t fall on an inconspicuous area. No! It had to fall right smack in the middle of my bosom.
Anyway, so yesterday didn’t go exactly according to plan, but we still made some progress, and that’s what matters. My primary, over-riding, most important goal is to have the living room clear by Sunday night so that I can start my morning workouts again on Monday. There’s no place for me to work out right now, and I am starting to see the fallout from missing workouts. Can’t have that!
