Working Hard Today

Posted by Editormum on 31 March 2001 in Just Another Single Mother |

Last night, the kids and I rented Happy Feet with a Blockbuster gift card I’d won, and went to bed late. I woke at 7 this morning when the alarm went off, and was going to turn over for another half hour of snoozing when my oldest came bounding into the room. So we got up and I got them ready for their father’s 8 a.m. pickup.

Then I pulled on my shoes and went over to my house to weed flowerbeds. I started at 9 and stopped at 11:30. I got three of the beds weeded … not as much as I had hoped, but still, the mailbox bed is 2 feet square, the bed along the driveway is 2 feet by 20 feet, and the front walkway bed is 18 inches by 10 feet. So I did a lot. I also mulched the driveway bed.

Went off to do errands: return Happy Feet, pick up some Perrier at the bistro/grocery, get gas, wash the car, mail a package, go to the doctor for a Doppler of my game leg, buy shampoo at the hair salon, buy clothes at the consignment shop, pick up some things at Home Depot for my dad, and buy lunch. There’s a little place here called Yang’s that looks like an impossibly icky dive, but they have the most divine fried shrimp, and a wonderful gyro. My parents love it, too, so we often will have gyros and/or shrimp for Saturday lunch.

Anyway, after our 3 p.m. lunch, I started in on paperwork for the tax season, and now I’m taking a quick break before diving back into it again. I work with papers all week long, so it’s hard to make myself file when I am home.

    Holy cow…
You make me feel positively lethargic. I got a haircut, put gas and propane in the motorhome, did recycling, got some stuff at W-Mart, put a new black water tank vent cap on the motorhome, vacuumed and dusted the inside, washed the oven out, did two loads of laundry …
ok, no wonder I want to take a break, it’s tiring to inventory a day off.

    Sounds like you were busy!
I work with kids all day…I couldn’t even imagine coming home to my own.
